WILLIAM T. “BILL” SWEARINGEN

WILLIAM T. “BILL” SWEARINGEN of Lufkin, TX died July 3, 2023 at the age of 93. He began working as a licensed embalmer in San Augustine before finding employment with Gipson Funeral Home in Pineland. Bill re-located to Lufkin with Gipson’s in 1959 as executive director, serving the community for over forty years. A 1949 graduate of the Landig College of Mortuary Science, he served two terms on the board of directors of the Texas Funeral Directors Association and was past president of the East Texas Funeral Directors Association.
