WILLIAM LEE SHANNON

WILLIAM LEE SHANNON of Shelbyville, KY died December 20, 2015 at the age of 96. He was a fourth generation funeral director at Shannon Funeral Service. He held the distinction of having the oldest funeral director and embalmer licenses in the commonwealth of Kentucky, having served 73 years as a funeral director and 69 years as an embalmer. Though in recent years, he was semi-retired, he still served as chairman of the board for Shannon Funeral Service. He was a part-time instructor with the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science from 1946 until 1971. He was a member of the Kentucky Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association and the National Selected Morticians.
