WILLIAM H. BUD KRESGE

WILLIAM H. BUD KRESGE of Brodheadsville, PA died January 13, 2014 at the age of 96. He was a third generation funeral director, working alongside his father, Eugene, in operating the William H. Kresge Funeral Home, a business started by his grandfather, William A. Kresge in 1880. He assumed ownership of the firm after his father's death in 1948. He operated the firm for almost 40 years before selling it to his son, Thomas J. Kresge in 1984. He continued to work for the funeral home until giving up his license in 2008. He served on the Board of Directors of Buena Vista Cemetery for 50 years, and was the current president of the Cemetery Board. He graduated from the Eckels School of Mortuary Science in 1939. He was a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania funeral Directors Association, the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association.
