WALTER EDWARD “WALLY” MARTENS JR

WALTER EDWARD “WALLY” MARTENS JR of Cleveland, OH died January 7, 2024 at the age of 78. He was a licensed funeral director and embalmer for over 50 years, having owned and operated the Walter Martens and Sons Funeral Home as second-generation. In 2023, Wally and his wife, Victoria closed their location and partnered with Charles Slone to operate the Walter Martens and Sons Funeral Home at Slone and Company Funeral Directors. A 1968 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, he was a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, Cuyahoga County Funeral Directors Association, Ohio Embalmers Association and the Cleveland Embalmers Association. Wally was also part of and one of the founding members of Foresight Family Funeral Homes, an organization promoting family-owned funeral homes within Northeast Ohio.
