SAM A. TWIFORD JR of Elizabeth City, NC died May 28, 2021 at the age of 77. A retired funeral director, he was the former co-owner of Twiford Funeral Homes and was president of the North Carolina Funeral Directors Association in 1989. A graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, he taught at the Gupton Jones School of Mortuary Science for several years and became dean of the college.
