ROY LEON DERFELT

ROY LEON DERFELT of Galena, KS died April 6, 2016 at the age of 93. In 1951, he joined his father, John Olin Derfelt as a funeral director at Derfelt Funeral Home, a profession he continued to practice well into his 80's. He eventually became sole owner of the business. In 1977, he purchased a funeral home in Baxter Springs and provided ambulance services to the community and the surrounding area. He graduated from the Kansas City Kansas Community College with a degree in mortuary science and was a member of the Kansas Funeral Directors Association.
