ROSS C DEJOHN

ROSS C DEJOHN SR of Mayfield Heights, OH died November 19, 2016 at the age of 88. He began working as a licensed funeral director at the McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home in Middle Town before moving to Cleveland to work for the Nosek Funeral Home and later the Flynn Froelk Funeral Home. Due to a series of back surgeries, DeJohn left the funeral business in 1956. In 1986, with his son, Ross, Jr., he bought the Flynn Mylott Funeral Home, which later became DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott. A 1952 graduate of the former Cleveland College of Mortuary Science, he was appointed to the Ohio State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors by Governor George V. Voinovich, where he eventually became board president, serving until his 2008 retirement. He also served as a deacon for the St. Clare Church in Lyndhurst and the Cleveland Catholic Diocese since his ordination on June 4, 1983.
