RICHARD E. "GENE" WILLIAMS

RICHARD E. "GENE" WILLIAMS of Gainesville, FL died January 12, 2016 at the age of 70. He was a second generation funeral director and embalmer at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home, which was established by his father, Richard "Dick" Williams in 1940. Under his tenure, the funeral home expanded to Hawthorne and Jonesville and will remain locally owned and operated by Gene's son Rick Williams and Vonda Williams, both licensed funeral directors. A graduate of Miami Dade College of Mortuary Science, he was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, Florida Funeral Directors Association, Independent Funeral Directors Association and the Professional Car Society.
