RAY MISH

RAY MISH of Bakersfield, CA died April 3, 2024 at the age of 99. He received his degree in mortuary science and became a licensed funeral director in the state of California. Mish began working for two local mortuaries in 1947 in Bakersfield. In 1960, he bought a vacant building in Oildale, the former College Hospital, and opened his first funeral home. He began to buy additional firms and established them where there were no funeral homes, they became Shaffer Funeral Home, Wasco Funeral Home, Centurion Memorial Society, Mish Funeral Home Southwest and more. Mish had left retirement and returned to work at 80 years old.
