PHILIP H. “CAPPY” THIELE

PHILIP H. “CAPPY” THIELE of Kearny, NJ died September 25, 2022 at the age of 90. His career in funeral service spanned seventy years, having served his apprenticeship at the John D. Crane & Sons Funeral Home. In 1966, the Crane family sold the business to Thiele and his wife, Joan, where they continued to operate the funeral home for forty-two years. His son, Steven and daughter-in-law, Helen acquired the Edward T. Reid Home for Funerals in 2008 and operates it as the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home. A 1957 graduate of the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, he was a member of the New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association and the Essex, Union & West Hudson Funeral Directors Association.
