MABEL RUTH SCHERMESSER-LENTZ

MABEL RUTH SCHERMESSER-LENTZ of Akron, OH died August 6, 2016 at the age of 97. She was one of only two women in the Akron area to receive her funeral director's license in the 1960s. She and her husband, Victor Schermesser established the Schermesser Funeral Home on South Main Street in 1942. In 1980 they built a new facility in Green and she continued to be part of the funeral home, along with her sons until 2014. Mabel played the organ at funerals until she was 96 years old. With the Ohio Funeral Directors Association, Mabel and Victor attended several winter trips that spanned five different continents.
