LOTTIE GREEN JACKSON

LOTTIE GREEN JACKSON of Oakland, CA died July 16, 2013 at the age of 83. She was the owner and operator of McNary-Morgan-Greene-Jackson Funeral Home, which was founded by her late husband, Vernon Jackson in 1942. She served the Oakland community for more than 50 years as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. She was honored by the 100 Black Women of Funeral Service organization as a 2012 Living Legend of Funeral Service. She was selected as the first female 8th District Governor for the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, and nominated to serve as the first female and first African American on the California State Board of Funeral Service. She graduated from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science in 1964.
