LEONARD EDWARD BOWLING

LEONARD EDWARD BOWLING of London, KY died August 18, 2022 at the age of 84. A funeral director and embalmer for over 60 years, he started working for his great uncle, D.B. House at the House Funeral Home in the early 60’s before partnering with R.C. Walker and Edd Smith to open Bowling-Walker Funeral Home in 1965. Bowling purchased sole ownership of the funeral home in the early 1970’s which still operates as the family business. A 1960 graduate of the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science, he was first elected coroner in 1973 and served seven consecutive terms. Bowling was awarded the highest rank through Kentucky Coroner’s Association as Master Coroner in 1995 and retired from Laurel County Corner after serving twenty-nine years.
