JOHN THOMAS STEWART

JOHN THOMAS STEWART III of Washington, DC died February 8, 2013 at the age of 76. He served as president of Stewart Funeral Home Inc, the oldest African-American family owned funeral home in the District of Columbia. He provided 50 years of service to the public as a third generation funeral director, carrying on the 113 year tradition of Stewardship of the firm. He served on the board of directors of the District of Columbia Directors Association, and a member of the Maryland Board of Funeral Directors. He attended the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York.
