JOHN W CHAPMAN

JOHN W. CHAPMAN III of Hurricane, WV died May 14, 2020 at the age of 72. A second generation funeral director, he began helping his father, John W. Chapman Jr., at the Chapman Funeral Home in Winfield before they purchased a second location in Teays Valley. For many years, John and his wife, Debra Leslie Chapman owned and operated the Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home in St. Albans. Following the death of his father in 1985, John and Debra expanded their funeral home presence with new and modern facilities. In 2015, Affordable Cremations of WV was launched to provide cremation services to all areas of West Virginia in the most economical fashion. A 1969 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, he served the West Virginia Board of Funeral Service Examiners, was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, West Virginia Funeral Directors Association and the Preferred Funeral Directors International, where he has served as past president.
