JAMES A REED

JAMES A. REED of Riverhead, formerly of Manorville, NY died October 27, 2021 at the age of 79. A New York State funeral director, he worked for the S. B. Horton Funeral Home in Greenport, Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead and the DeFreist Funeral Home in Southold. Reed was a long-time sales associate in the casket industry, having worked for the National Casket Company, Batesville Casket Company, Northeast Casket Company, South Brooklyn Casket Company and J & R Victoriaville Casket Company. A graduate of the Simmons Institute of Funeral Service, he was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, New York State Funeral Directors Association and the Nassau-Suffolk Funeral Directors Association, where he chaired the continuing education committee.
