JACK MILLER

JACK MILLER of Gretna, VA died October 27, 2021 at the age of 89. He completed his funeral director and embalmers apprenticeship at Community Funeral Home in Lynchburg, VA under the supervision of the late M. W. Thornhill, Jr. Miller later served as a funeral director and embalmer at Craw-ford Funeral Home in Halifax before establishing Miller Funeral Home in Gretna in 1964. A 1962 graduate of the Echols College of Mortuary Science, he was a member of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, president and board chairman of the Virginia Morticians Association and was president of the Western District Funeral Directors Morticians Association. Miller's service to the community led to numerous accolades that included 1976 Western District Funeral Directors and Morticians "Man of the Year," 1999 Virginia Morticians Association "Mortician of the Year," and in 2000, he was appointed to a four-term to the Virginia Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers, where he later served as board president.
