HARVEY I. LAPIN

ATTY. HARVEY I. LAPIN of Northbrook, IL and Boca Raton, FL died November 7, 2017 at the age of 79. One of the first attorneys to specialize in the death care industry, he was active in the FTC Funeral Rule proceedings and helped to write legislation for several states. Harvey's articles were published by many industry publications as well as in the Cemetery and Funeral Business and Legal Guide and Release Form Kit through CB Legal Publishing Corporation. His Legal Speak column began in the Funeral Home & Cemetery News (previously YB News) in July 1980 and appeared every month through November 2017.
Harvey was a member of the faculty at the John Marshall Law School in Chicago teaching the subject of Tax Exempt Organizations. He was also associated with Florida-based law firm Sachs, Sax & Caplan, leading the firm's Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Practice Group.
