GERALD "JERRY" MINER

GERALD "JERRY" MINER of Midland, MI died June 25, 2016 at the age of 94. In 1952, he and his wife, Edith purchased the Reigle Funeral Home in Gladwin, and continued to own and operate it as Miner Funeral Home for over 17 years. He sold it in 1969 before returning to Midland to work for Wilson Funeral Home. The Miners purchased the Bradley Funeral Home in 1971, operating it as Miner-Bradley for a number of years and as the Miner Funeral Home beginning in 1981. Dave and Lisa Smith bought out the Miners in 1989 and changed the name to Smith-Miner Funeral Home. Jerry continued to serve the families in the Midland area as a licensed funeral director until his retirement in 2008. He earned his mortuary science degree from Wayne State University, and served on the Michigan State Board of Mortuary Science from 1967 to 1971.
