GEORGE J. PAYNIC

GEORGE J. PAYNIC of East Alton, IL, died January 16, 2013 at the age of 83. He founded the George J. Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights in 1989 and operated it until 2011. In 1955, he began working at Marks Mortuary in Wood River for many years. He assisted the Thomas Saksa Funeral Home in Granite City and several other firms in that area. He briefly worked at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. He served families for over 50 years and was a Madison county reserve deputy coroner for 55 years.
