GEORGE BERNARD BENTA of Harlem, NY died January 3, 2013 at the age of 91. He joined his father and step mother in operating Benta's Funeral, Inc, previously known as Reed and Benta Funeral Home Inc, which was established by his father and a partner in 1928. The firm operated from a brownstone on 132nd Street, operating it on the first and parlor floor, while he and his family lived in the top floors. In 1964, he expanded the funeral home and formed the Wilmack Holding Corporation which was moved from the brownstone to its current location in Harlem. He served forty years of service as a funeral director. He founded Alegacy Coaches. He was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, and the Greater New York Funeral Directors Association. He graduated from the New York School of Embalming and Restorative Arts.
