FRENCHYE M. BYNES

FRENCHYE M. BYNES of Savannah, GA died May 26, 2012 at the age of 88. She was a Georgia licensed funeral director, working alongside her husband, Frank Howard Bynes, Sr., in the operation of Bynes-Royall Funeral Home Inc; the oldest funeral home in the state of Georgia. She obtained ownership of the firm after her husband had passed away. She was distinguished as being the first female African American funeral director in Savannah. She was very active in the Georgia Funeral Service and Practitioners Association. She joined Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity and was member of the Alpha Gamma Chapter as well as the fifth district of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association of Florida, Georgia and Alabama. She received the 50 year membership recognition award from the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association in 2006.
