ELMER HAROLD VIERKANT

ELMER HAROLD VIERKANT of Osage, IA died May 21, 2014 at the age of 85. He was a longtime funeral director, serving families in El Cajon since 1953. He served his internship under the direction of Milton Paris of Paris Mortuary. Elmer then moved to Lewis Colonial Mortuary where he served as a funeral director for several years. In 1961, he returned to manage Paris Mortuary, which eventually became El Cajon Mortuary. In the early 1950s he earned an associate degree from the California College of Mortuary Science in Los Angeles. He served as president for both, the San Diego County Embalmers Association, and the San Diego County Funeral Directors Association.
