CHARLES “CHARLIE” HENRY BARNDT

CHARLES “CHARLIE” HENRY BARNDT of Wayne, OH died April 9, 2023 at the age of 90. A licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1960, he served his internship at Flynn-Froelke Funeral Home in Cleveland and continued to work there for two years. In 1961 Charlie and his late wife, Barb moved to Wayne and bought Baublitz Funeral Home, which until 1968 was called Baublitz-Barndt Funeral Home. They bought Sage Funeral Home in 1968 and ran both businesses for eleven years. Both funeral homes were consolidated in the Wayne location in 1979. During their ownership of Barndt Funeral Home, they ran the town ambulance service for 16 years. He graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1959.
