CATHERINE A. PAYNE-BAUGH

CATHERINE A. PAYNE-BAUGH of New York, NY died October 1, 2012. She was the current owner of the Henry W. Payne Funeral Home founded by her late father, Henry W. Payne. She was the first female president of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, a past president of the New York Funeral Directors Association and was affiliated with the National Funeral Directors Association, Metropolitan Funeral Directors Association, and Empire State Funeral Directors Association. She served as general advisor for the Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity Inc., and the NFD&MA Ladies Auxiliary. She was a life member of the 100 Black Women of Funeral Service, serving as their national consultant in 1993. A graduate of the McAllister School of Embalming, she received her funeral directors license in 1952.
