BILLIE WHITE EVERETT of Lubbock, TX died April 21, 2025 at the age of 93. A retired funeral director, she worked alongside her first husband, Martin M. White, Jr., in managing the Stanley Jones Funeral Home in Tahoka. In 1962, Martin and Billie purchased the firm, and continued to own and operate it as White Funeral Home. In 1985, she and her third husband, Don Everett, opened a satellite location in O’Donnell. They further expanded by building a new funeral home in Idalou in 1987. Billie and Don purchased the Moore-Rose Funeral Home in 1988 and in 1994, they acquired a fifth location, the former Henderson-Singleton Funeral Home building in Lubbock. A 1959 graduate of Houston’s Landrig College of Mortuary Science, she was named Funeral Director of the Year by the West Texas Funeral Directors Association and had served as the first woman president of the West Texas region. Everett also served on the board of directors of the Texas Funeral Directors Association.
