BENJAMIN A. UNDERWOOD

BENJAMIN A. UNDERWOOD of Louisville, KY died April 22, 2022 at the age of 83. A funeral director and embalmer for almost fifty years, he was the co-founder, co-owner and president of Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home. His start in the funeral profession began when he purchased Neurath Funeral Home. Shortly thereafter, Underwood acquired Schoppenhorst Bros, which he eventually sold, opening the location at Brooks with his mother, Hallie Kruse. In 2013, he purchased the Hardy-Close Funeral Home in downtown Shepherdsville and in 2015 a funeral home in Mount Washington was built with the help of his son, Zane. Underwood graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science.
