ASHTON B.T. SMITH

ASHTON B.T. SMITH, JR of West Chester, PA and Montana died March 7, 2014 at the age of 79. He was a fourth generation funeral director, owner and operator of the Joseph B. Smith & Son Funeral Home, which was established by his great-grandfather, Joseph B. Smith in 1875.He took over operation of the business after his father's death in 1970. In 1994, he merged the business with the Riley & DellaVecchia Funeral Home, now known as DellaVecchia, Riley, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home Inc. He retired in 1998. He was the former past president and treasurer of the Chester County Funeral Directors Association. He graduated from the Eckels College of Mortuary Science in 1960.
