ALYCE LOUISE CARTER GRIFFIN

ALYCE LOUISE CARTER GRIFFIN of Chicago, IL died February 28, 2017 at the age of 98. She worked alongside her husband, Ernest A. Griffin as a licensed funeral director and embalmer for over 50 years. Together they purchased the Bell Auto and Undertaking Company from his father, Stephen A. Griffin in 1947, operating it as Griffin Funeral Home, Ltd. In 1955, Ernest passed away and Alyce, along with her two daughters and granddaughter, continued to operate it until the business closed in 2007. She was a member of the Cook County Funeral Home Owner's Association, National Funeral Directors Association, Illinois Funeral Directors Association and the International Federation of Thanatologists Associations.
